Brookwood - 1
Central Gwinnett - 0
Ryan Christopher scored on an assist from Michael Clarke of the
midfield with a great finish against the Central Gwinnett keeper
in the 34th minute for the long goal of the night.
However, with the outstanding keeper play of Jamie Deal, who was
credited with 7 saves, the one goal was enough for the Broncos
10th win of the season, and they remain a perfect 5-0 in region
play.
Wes Manyak and Nathan McKeever both played well on defense and Jacob Morrow
turned in an outstanding effort on the outside, both making
great defensive plays while contributing significantly to the
offense.

Brookwood - 5
Central Gwinnett - 0
Despite maintaining possession and controlling the game, the
Broncos held a 1-0 leading late into the second half. But
with about 8 minutes left, the Broncos began making their shots
count against the bunkered defense of Central Gwinnett.
Goals by Natalie Douglass and Katie Jesser staked the Broncos to
the 2-0 lead. Then Chelsea Catlin his a great low shot
from 20 yards out, Jacki Brown added a goal on an outstanding
effort and Douglass finished off the scoring with her second
goal of the night on an outstanding left footed shot from 25
yards out.
Jessica English saved the lone shot against the Bronco
defense to record her seventh shutout this season

McIntosh - 1
Brookwood hosted the number 7 ranked AAAA McIntosh Chiefs
tonight and came away with a convincing 4-1 victory, improving
their season record to 8-0-1. McIntosh came out strong by
putting a hard shot that Brookwood keeper Jessica English corralled
in the 2nd minute of the match. This seemed to spark the
Broncos an in the 8th minute, Ashley Gray sent a pass to
Carolann Simpson down the left side. Simpson out-muscled
two defenders and sent a great cross to Jacki Brown at the top
of the penalty area. Brown made one move with the ball to
beat the last defender and hit a high shot from 12 yards out for
the 1-0 lead. Jacki Brown missed just missed scoring a
header of a Chelsea Catlin cross in the 12th minute and Natalie
Douglass' header from a Kelli McLane corner kick also just
missed over the top of the goal. In the 24th minute,
Kelsey Moore's shot across the mouth of the goal missed just
wide Then, in the 28th minute, McIntosh's Megan O'Rourke
collected a loss ball in front of the Bronco goal to tie the
match at 1-1.
The Broncos took control of the second half in the first
minute when Jacki Brown mopped up a Carolann Simpson effort for
the 2-1 lead. In the 7th minute, Ashley Gray collected a
Kelli McLane corner kick for the 3-1 lead. The final goal
of the match was set up when Lindsay Mushett built an attack out
of the back by sending a great springing pass to Rachel Peckham
along the right touch line. Peckham carried the ball for
15 yards, the pivoted and sent a beautiful diagonal pass across
the field, seeming headed for Ashley Gray at the top of the
arc. However, Gray wisely let the ball go through to a
wide open Michelle Osborn at the corner of the area.
Osborn set up the loan defender with one touch and hit a hard
shot that hit the cross, bounced straight down, and then into
the goal for the 4-1 win.
The Broncos kept constant pressure on the Chiefs, rarely
allowing them to possess the ball or put much pressure on keeper
Jessica English. Bronco defenders Courtney Charlesworth,
Emily Hughes, Lindsay Mushett, Michelle Osborn and Natalie
Douglass all had a great game by controlling possession and
pressing the attack.

Brookwood - 2
St. Pius - 1
The Brookwood Broncos improved their season record to 6-2-0 with
a hard fought 2-1 win over the St. Pius Lions. Brookwood
controlled the first 5 minutes of the match, then St. Pius took
control for the next 5 minutes, but neither team could mount
much of an attack. St. Pius earned two quick corner kicks
but could do nothing with the opportunity. Brookwood's
Joey Deloney had a shot-on-goal in the 11th minute, and Chris
Batson's shot in the 12th minute was just wide. In the
20th minute, John Yang had an outstanding effort and pushed his
shot just wide of the goal. St. Pius then has a fantastic
free kick from 35 yards out into a crowded goal mouth but
Brookwood keeper Jamie Deal won the battle and punched the ball
out for the clear. In the 30th minute St. Pius had their best
opportunity of the first half, but the shot from 20 yards out
was collected by Deal. The first half ended in a scoreless
tie.
St. Pius again earned two corner kicks in the first 7
minutes, but the 2nd one made things very interesting. St.
Pius sent two players to the corner, with one setting the ball
down and nudging it forward with his foot. That was all
Theo Yang needed to see as he crept in to steal the ball and
brought it up the right touch line. At midfield, he
delivered a long pass to his older brother John who carried the
ball into the right corner before sending a great cross to Chris
Batson who was trailing the play from the left side. Batson's
shot beat the Lion keeper just inside the post for the 1-0
lead. In the discussion of the goal, a St. Pius player
received a red card, so the Lions were forced to play a man
down. This seemed to spark both teams as the intensity
picked up noticeably after the first goal.
In the 17th minute, Jacob Morrow had an outstanding effort to
win a loose ball at midfield, beat two defenders to find Jahbari
Willis along the left side. Willis carried the ball into
the corner then crossed back across the field at the 18 yard
line before sending a shot across the goal mouth, pulling the
keeper off of his line. Scott Phelts was waiting on the
right side of the goal and slotted the ball past the keeper for
a 2-0 lead. St. Pius pulled within a goal in the 29th
minute on an outstanding effort by Joey Flint who worked past 3
Bronco defenders to win a long ball and net the shot in the
upper left side of the goal.
Jacob Morrow did a good job of distributing the ball out of
the midfield and winning numerous 50/50 chances against a solid
St. Pius midfield. Wes Manyak, Michael Clarke and Jon
Cooper again turned in outstanding performances as did keeper
Jamie Deal who shut down several threats in the penalty
area. Offensively, Joey Deloney and Chris
Batson, in addition to the Yang brothers, kept the pressure on
the St. Pius back line.

Brookwood - 7
East Coweta - 0
The top-rated Broncos brought their season record to 5-0-0
with tonight's 7-1 win over visiting East Coweta.
First half goals by Ashley Gray, Kelli McLane, Chelsea Catlin,
Jordan Miller and Jacki Brown spotted the Bronco to a 5-0
halftime lead. The Broncos controlled the ball for most of the
half while the defensive midfield and back line kept the
pressure off of the goal keepers.
The second half was much the same with the Broncos
controlling possession. Senior Jacki Brown got her second
goal of the match in the 18th minute. A hard free kick by
Kelli McLane handcuffed the keeper who could only bat the ball
back into the field of play. Chelsea Catlin hustled to
collect the loose ball against two East Coweta defenders, then
chipped the ball to the top of the penalty area to find Brown
all alone. She hit another high, hard shot that the keeper
again couldn't control. The Broncos scored 9 minutes later
on Kelli McLane's second goal of the match, assisted by Ashley
Gray. East Coweta scored their loan goal of the night with
7 minutes left. Freshman goal keeper Kelly McDaniel made a
fantastic stop on a one-on-one breakaway situation. The
ball rebounded back across the penalty area to an East Coweta
player who connected for the lone goal.

2-27-07 Brookwood - 2
East Coweta - 0 The Broncos went up 1-0 in the 18th minute on a
night pass out of the back that set Jabari Shaw loose along the
left side. Shaw beat his man into the penalty area and
sent a nice pass to Jahbari Willis who was trailing the play,
just inside the 18. The East Coweta defender stretched out
to clear the ball and instead put it in his own net for an own
goal, credited to Jahbari Willis. The Bronco
forwards kept constant pressure on the East Coweta back line
throughout the first half. Joey Delaney, Theo Yang, Shaw
and Willis, along with Scott Phelts and Chris Batson were
causing the back line problems throughout the first half.
The Brookwood defense, led by Jacob Morrow and Michael Clarke
limited the East Coweta offense to no shots-on-goal in the first
half. Another goal in the second half by Jabari Shaw on an
assist from John Yang notched the 2-0 victory
with Jamie Deal recording the shutout in goal. | Back to Schedules
